Zhang Yong, also known as Da Yong, whose courtesy name is Han Yu and pen name is Dong Lin, was born in Tongliao in 1977, Inner Mongolia, and later moved to Raoyang County, where his grandmother lives. He was acquainted with inner painting master Li Guangli because of interest, and formally acknowledged Li as his teacher in 1995. He made a spurt progress in inner painting technique, and Mr. Li called him an extraordinary talent of inner painting. He is good at giving full expression to ink, which is the style of his works, and prefers to have long signature on the paintings, his works being of great momentum. The range of subjects for his paintings is extensive, and what make him proud most is the landscape paintings. His master works include “Yue Fei”, "One Hundred Eagles” and "Timely Snow". In 1999, he established Dong Lin Inner Painting Center and started running a school, cultivating a group of outstanding inner painting artists. At present, he is settling in Hengshui. In 2000, Zhang Yong won the title of “Inner Painting Artist”; in 2003, he was promoted to inner painting master of Hebei Province, and in the same year, he was appointed to be the director of Chinese Painter-Calligrapher Association; also, he won the silver medal in the “New Star International Communication Contest”. Currently, he is the director of China’s Hengshui Inner Painting Association and chairman of Huashan Inner Painting Board.
